The greatly anticipated Friday 10-15 ft epic conditions WNW-NW swell finally arrived on December 2, 2022 after a rough start to this North Shore season with Pipeline surfers scratching their heads wondering when Pipeline is going to finally get good. Well Tuesday was nice providing glassy waves but Friday brought great conditions and size. Here's some drone footage to show you a 40 minute long video of a Bird's eye view of all the action that occurred on a day to remember for this Pipeline 2022-23 North Shore Winter season. All the Pipeline pros are here from around the world, the whales are back breaching in the background, and every photographer on the island is trying to get a piece of the action.

We purposely don't name surfers in the edit because there's no room for mistakes so we will list them in the description. Some of the surfers featured include but are not limited to Jackson Dorian, Balaram Stack, Moana Jones Wong, Mason Ho, Flynn Novak, Jamie O'brien, Ivan Florence, Billy Kemper, and more.

It may look easy but we don't recommend flying a drone at Pipeline or Waimea unless you're a seasoned pilot because chances are you will lose it like most of us already have. Even seasoned drone pilots lose their drones every time we shoot on the North Shore it happens. Watch what happens at 31:30 secs. Yes, and that happened to a very experienced drone pilot!

Requesting Clips:
Please don't bother us about clips unless you're willing to pay for them. Surf photographers have to make a living too especially trying to pay off the equipment we invested in to get your clips in the first place. We're extremely busy and you are basically paying photographers for their time because it's a task to prepare clips and email them out.

Social Media Etiquette:
If you use a photographer's media without their knowledge and don't tag them or give them the credit they deserve, that's stealing and f'ed up. Be grateful for your clips and do the right thing.

What occurred on January 22, 2023, at Waimea Bay on the North Shore of Oahu is nothing short of historical. We're simply doing our best to document Hawaiian Surf History here.

Hands down, the most epic surf event in recent memory and other surf photographers, some of whom have been filming these events for a long time, agreed and said similar things. What a coincidence that exactly one year after 2022's (Jan 22, 2022) biggest and most epic Waimea Bay Surf day, we have another epic day, just bigger, sunnier, more exciting, and better in every way!

Eddie Aikau was a Hawaiian lifeguard and surfer. As the first lifeguard at Waimea Bay on the island of Oahu, he saved over 500 people and became famous for surfing the big Hawaiian surf, winning several awards. In 1978, He sacrificed his life trying to help the crew aboard the voyaging canoe Hōkūleʻa. In Eddie Aikau's honor, "The Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational" Waimea Bay Big Wave Surf Contest was held on Jan 22, 2023 for the first time since February 25, 2016.
