⁣What New Army Soldiers Go Through On Day One Of Boot Camp Boot Camp

Wonder what Army BCT Red Phase is like? This is a great example of what Army boot camp is like on day 1. During Phase I trainees are subject to “Total Control,” meaning their every action is monitored and constantly corrected by demanding drill sergeants.

Army Basic Combat Training Experience From Reception & Integration, trainees are transported to their new Battery. The trainees are briefed by the Battery First Sergeant, Battery Commander and their new Drill Sergeants. Their Drill Sergeants brief the trainees on Army Customs and Courtesies, Drill and Ceremony and the expectations of them while here at basic training. Basic Training has begun!

Army Rappelling Treadwell Tower - At Treadwell Tower the biggest thing trainees have to overcome is fear. Even though trainees are frightened, they see that they can do it.

Army BCT Team Development Course - During the Team Development Course, trainees learn the art of teamwork and team building. In order to accomplish the complex tasks, trainees learn they must function as a team, otherwise they fail as individuals.

Medical Training Army Basic Training - Learning to evacuate injured Soldiers out of harm’s way, in a hostile environment is an essential skill taught during Medical Training Lanes.

The Army Combat Conditioning Course is an excellent test of trainees’ endurance, stamina, and physical fitness as they run across the variety of obstacles.

The Anvil field training exercise is built upon other skills such as squad tactics, medical training events, and Chemical, Biological, Radiological & Nuclear (CBRN) attacks.
The Army Boot Camp “Gas Chamber” is actually the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) confidence chamber. The trainees learn about the M50 Field Protective Mask, or “Gas Mask.”

Grenades Training in Army Boot Camp Trainees are taught every aspect of hand grenades: pulling the pin and throwing techniques. They are taught about the different types of hand grenades. At the end of training each trainee throws two live hand grenades.
Wonder what Army BCT White Phase is like? During this phase, trainees will begin learning the basics of rifle marksmanship, maintenance, and engaging targets at varying distances.

Rifle Marksmanship in the Army Qualification is the culmination of many hours of rifle training. It is an exercise designed to test trainee’s ability to apply learned principles and acquired skills by firing at targets from various distances.

The Army Hand to Hand Combat Training Program enhances unit combat readiness by building trainees’ personal courage, confidence, and resiliency as well as their situational responsiveness to close quarters threats in the operational environment.

In the Infantry Squad Battle Course in Army Bootcamp , a squad of 12-15 trainees on patrol encounter indirect small arms fire.

Wonder what Blue Phase is like in Army Basic Combat Training? The final phase of Basic Combat Training builds on everything trainees have learned so far and will serve as their final rite of passage from civilian to Soldier.

Army Basic Combat Training Pugil Sticks Trainees conduct pugil sticks training in order to build aggressiveness and confidence required to defeat the enemy in close combat using the rifle and bayonet.

The Army BCT Confidence Obstacle Course (COC) helps instill Army values, build confidence and raise personal courage between trainees. The Confidence Obstacle Course is designed to test trainee’s endurance, stamina and willpower.

The U.S. Army BCT Forge is a grueling, 96-hour, cumulative training exercise that puts week-seven trainees in a patrol base as they encounter a multitude of combat and logistical scenarios. During this time, trainees will be forged in the furnace of shared hardship and tough training. There will be multiple road marches, a tough night infiltration course, a combat resupply event, a casualty evacuation drill, a pugil sticks competition and the reflexive fire range. Over the four days of events, the trainees navigate about 46 miles. The Forge emphasizes battle drills, tactical operations and numerous foot patrols.

Officially Becoming a US Soldier. The rite of passage acknowledges that the new Soldiers have passed a milestone in Basic Combat Training, and it instills a sense of history in them. Putting on their berets signifies that the trainees have earned the title of United States Soldier. They will now stand with their Drill Sergeants as the Nation’s newest Soldiers.

Grog Tradition The BCT grog has a long and glorious history. Field artillerymen load their cannons with powder charges to send rounds downrange, but now individual charges are be loaded into the grog. They pour seven charges into the drum of grog.

Another tradition in the Blue Phase is the Army Warrior's Meal, where the Soldiers are rewarded with an "all-you-can-eat" buffet served by the drill sergeants and the first sergeant.

Before they become snipers, all students must graduate from the US Army Sniper Course, a seven-week program that teaches soldiers from the Army and National Guard essential skills in fieldcraft and marksmanship. Insider spent two days at the US Army Sniper Course inside the Fort Benning military installation near Columbus, Georgia, where we observed various classes at different stages of training.

Just 288 students are accepted into the Sniper Course each year, and roughly half pass the course and graduate. Students learn to operate several weapons systems and must master hitting targets up to 1,100 meters away. Prospective snipers learn how to create ghillie suits, a type of camouflage clothing that snipers use to blend in with their environment. They are educated in a wide array of fieldcraft skills, including target detection, range estimation, and stalks, where they must stealthily move through wooded terrain without being spotted by instructors. Those who are able to graduate from the course could be deployed into combat as snipers immediately if necessary.

Here's an inside look at the United States Army's intense 22-week basic training known as OSUT, which stands for One Station Unit Training. Senior Video Correspondent Graham Flanagan spent four days at the Army's Maneuver Center of Excellence located inside the Fort Benning military installation near Columbus, Georgia, where he observed different companies at various stages of training.

After a processing period that takes one to two weeks, recruits experience what's known as a "shark attack," when drill sergeants create a high-stress environment through a series of rapid-fire instructions and commands. Once the intensity subsides and training begins, the dynamic between the drill sergeants and the recruits evolves into one found between a teacher and students in a classroom.

Despite rainy conditions that rarely let up during filming, we saw various dynamic aspects of training, such as marksmanship, tear gas exposure, and MOUT, which stands for military operations in urban terrain.

In the video, we incorrectly refer to duffle bags as rucksacks. Insider regrets the error.

It goes without saying that the US Army is continuously testing and adding new weapons to its arsenal.

For example, the Army recently began to replace the M9 and M11 pistols with the M17 and M18, but has only delivered them to soldiers in the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell in Kentucky. Therefore, the pistols are not yet standard issue.

While the Army continues to stay ahead of the game, it undoubtedly has a multitude of weapons for its soldiers.
