We now are focusing on the actual management of the patient with a chest tube. In this lesson I cover some of the important information from our assessment that we do for the patient, as well as the chest tube, its draining, dressing and the whole system. I also cover a couple of important topics to understand when I talk about the air leak and the tidaling that we can see, what they mean, and what we need to do, if anything. I also hit on the potential emergency situation where the tubing becomes disconnected as well is if the chest tube becomes dislodged or pulled out.
