She was also one of the first liners designed to serve as a cruise ship in the winter. While she wasn't a major commercial success during her short career, she earned a small but loyal following who loved her spaciousness and beauty. But World War 2 brought the great liner a premature end, making her the largest ship ever sunk by a German u-boat.If you'd like to help this channel grow, you can make a donation here: https://www.bigoldboats.com/donateor here:https://ko-fi.com/bigoldboatsInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/bigo....ldboatsSources:Empre of Britain: Canadian Pacific's Greatest Ship by Gordon Turner: https://amzn.to/3iwRS8MWhite Empresses and Other Canadian Pacific Liners of the 1920s & 30s by William Miller: https://amzn.to/3L66OHbThe Floating Inferno: The Story of the Loss of the Empress of Britain by R.J.
