In a world and society that based their behavior on greed, money, sex, and control, would you do anything to attain what you? Some believe that you should be out there for self-gain look out for yourself, and get what they want, by any means necessary. Is getting what you want by any means required, such as lying, stealing, killing, and cheating the correct way to attain anything in life?

Ethics, do you believe in ethics or ethical behavior?  What is ethics?  Let's define ethics and then we may understand what ethics is and what is required. "Ethics are best defined as the moral principles by which we live and work. They guide our behavior and help us make decisions that are right and just. Ethics are the values and beliefs that shape our actions and interactions in society."

(Singer, 2024, britannica)

Based upon this definition do you believe you have ethics? Where are your ethics, do ethics matter to you, when you are interacting with people, at work or play, are you trustworthy in your activities toward others?  People hear the word ethics all the time, but do they understand what ethics is all about?

At job interviews, companies want to know if you have ethics, before they will hire you for employment. Hiring managers want to know, that you can be trusted, ethics is something that is instilled in your character as a person.

What is your ethics, everyone has some type of ethics and some define ethics entirely differently than others.

Ethics is a moral attitude of what is good and bad behavior. Good and bad behavior is very important, that goes to the heart of your being. What is your character as a person, do you respect or do you disrespect society's way of life, as to how things work in the world? Or do you try and make up your values, as to what is good and bad behavior?

Every day you wake in life there are many opportunities that an ethical decision can and will be made. When you come into contact with others, at home, work, play, and many social gatherings. Ethical opportunities encompass the very small, to the big and important situations, in which you may become involved.

Ethics as stated earlier is about your moral attitude of good and bad behavior, and what does that mean in everyday life? Ethics has to do with how you would react to a situation you may become involved in, such as would you take a pen from work, that is not yours, the company you work for purchased that pen, and it belongs to the company.

I understand that this may seem trivial, like a pen, but ethics extend to all activities and behaviors. That small pen costs the company money, and when it is taken from their premises, they must replace it.

To do your job, you need writing instruments, which means the company will have to spend more money buying pens in bulk. If they continually have to replace these pens, the costs can add up significantly. Can you be trusted to do the right thing?

When you hold a position of power or authority, can you maintain ethical interactions with others who work for you? Would you favor one employee over another based on their appearance or how they dress? Would you give someone an unfair advantage because they have done favors for you or because you have a personal relationship with them?

Ethics also relate to honesty. Will you keep your word and do what you say, or would you betray a confidant by revealing their secret? For instance, if a confidant asked you to keep a secret and you agreed, but later you disclosed that secret to someone else, would that be ethical?

Ethics influence everything you do in life. Therefore, when you are outside your home and interacting with others, always prioritize good ethics in how you treat them. Hopefully, others will reciprocate this ethical treatment. Remember, ethics can reflect both good and bad moral behavior or character.
