Rape Zero Tolerance
Rape is a terrible or awful assault against women or men and should be punished to the full extent of the law. Rape has and leaves physical, mental and emotional consequences that last with people for a lifetime and some people may never recover from the effects of this treble crime. What can we do as a society to combat or discourage individuals from committing this heinous crime against humanity?
Rape is defined in law as forcible sexual relations with a person against that person's will. Rape is the commission of unlawful sexual intercourse or unlawful sexual intrusion. ... The essential elements of the crime were sexual penetration, force, and lack of consent.
Rape is someone coming up to you without you giving them the okay or consent, and taking you against your will the ability to stop them from committing sex upon your person. You had no say so in the action or matter at all. This person took from you and invaded your privacy in the most heinous way to be violated. How do we stop people from committing this violate behavior or is it born out of society's behavior regarding how we view sex?
Could American behavior as to how we view sex such as; displaying sex on television, magazines, internet and trying to sell sex every way that we can to make a dollar have an effect on certain people mental acumen help cause these people to commit this behavior?
In America, we highlight sex on everything that we do in this country. We use sex to sell everything. We believe that if you are sexy you have a better opportunity for advancement jobs, to attain money and a better quality of life than those who are not so sexy or good looking. We have been encouraged in America to flaunt your sexual abilities to get ahead in this life. It's all about sex, let's talk about sex all of these cliché's we use every day is all about sex. Could the way we exploit sex help foster in some people minds that if I cannot have sex or be sexy I'll just take sex for those who have this sexual appeal which is rape?
We also, in this country have many people who do have mental deficits who cannot discern right from wrong and they will take from those who have because their minds are being condition to a certain behavior that sex is good and they should have it just like everyone they see on television, internet, and movies. Then they just go out and commit sexual assault or rape, because in their mind this is something that they should have, just like you need water and air to survive, they believe the same way about having sex.
Then we have other people who believe in controlling and dominating people for their own personal benefit. These types of people believe in causing people to fear them and they do not ask they just take what they want. If you do not permit or allow them to have what they want they will take it by force. You have to be careful as to who you are acquainting with, because there are wolfs in sheep clothing preying on people who they believe may be vulnerable.
How to protect yourself from being a victim:
- 1. Late nights outings pay close attention to your surroundings
- 2. Being alone if you are a woman (leaving school late night, or work late night) have someone to go with you.
- 3. Car in good conditions (good tires, hoses, belts) don't drive on routes that are hardly used by other motorist
- 4. Let people know your whereabouts (family, friends, co-workers)
- 5. Let people know your habits(what you do normally)
- 6. Check your odd behavior(be suspicious of odd behavior of others)
- 7. Have a normal routine
- 8. Stop believing or thinking that it can't happen to me
Rape is a terrible crime for anyone to experience whether you are a woman or man, because it can have emotional scars that linger for many many years and sometimes may never go away or could be remove emotionally, psychically or physically. So be careful of your surroundings and dealings with people who you know and especially those you do not know.
